Smarter Bus Shelters For Transport for London (TfL)
The Transport for London (TfL) 63 bus route runs from Peckham in the depth of South East London all the way to Kings Cross St Pancras in North London. Working with TfL and with the support of Vix Technology we have deployed PassageWay RTPI smart digital signs at 16 bus shelters along the journey, on both north and southbound route shelters.
The PassageWay digital signs display detailed route information for all services running via that bus shelter. With route information automatically rotating between the services approximately every 20 seconds. For each route the sign displays the onward stops plus the estimated time to reach each. This is supported by a legible-London style map that plots the route of the service to provide improved contextual information to customers.
The PassageWay RTPI digital sign also includes any disruption information that affects the services running via that shelter along with helpful status details for all the other TfL modes for improved onward travel planning.
All route data for the PassageWay RTPI digital sign is taken directly from the TfL unified API and updates automatically in tandem with the latest information. The landscape design of the sign is a new version of the portrait layout originally designed for a smart bus shelter project due for deployment across Croydon.
We hope that TfL bus customers find the PassageWay RTPI digital signs helpful and informative. If you have any comments or feedback concerning these signs or other elements of our work please contact us.
